BLOGGER POWR : Maria

Thursday, 19 October 2017

Hope everyone has had a lovely week so far! Today we are bringing you another BLOGGER POWR post featuring the lovely Maira at http://lovefrommaira.co.uk. Hope you enjoy reading her answers to the questions!

Blogging and me!

- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
LoveFromMaira is a little slice of my life, filled with all things beauty, a little bit of lifestyle and things that I’m enthusiastic about such as health and well-being.

- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
My ‘Bedside Beauty Essentials’ post is a very popular one, however my personal favourite is my ‘Pathways to Happiness’ one from last year.

- How long have you been blogging?
I created my blog in February of 2016, so over a year now.

- What's your favourite part of blogging?
This is a hard question to answer because there’s so many things I enjoy about blogging. I’m truly thankful for the wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting and I also love having a corner of the internet all to myself, where I can be myself and that there are other people who appreciate my content.

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I’m more of a writer than a photographer, so I tend to write up several blog posts when I’m bursting with inspiration and take my photos accordingly - although, I will admit that I can get a little lazy with taking photos because I’m not the best at it! It’s something I really want to improve on, and it will take some time. When I first started blogging, I had a routine of uploading two to three times a week. However, this quickly became an impossible task because firstly, life and secondly, majority of my blog posts are beauty product reviews and testing out products requires a lot of time before producing a final verdict.

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
It can be difficult finding your place in the blogging community, as although a generally very welcoming and friendly place, it can be easy to get lost in the sea of marble and rose-gold. I would say, as cliche as it may be, be yourself because that’s what makes you unique. In addition to that, if you really enjoy what you do, that tends to shine through your writing and from what I’ve seen, that’s what makes a blog successful…and I measure success by the engagement and positive feedback I receive, as opposed to counting numbers.

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I do enjoy writing beauty product reviews, but they can become monotonous very quickly, therefore I enjoy writing other kinds of posts to break it up a little. For example, the ‘Reverse Bucket List’ - any kind of ‘tag’ post or something of a more personal nature.

About me:
- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Resilient, Ridiculous, but Loving :)

- What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
Nothing beats fresh bed sheets, a bubble bath, face mask, candles and a good book!

- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
My mum, cold water, and a good skincare routine.

- Do you have any bad habits?
Oh yes, Im one of those people who used to have a chair in the room which would quickly pile up with clothes. Now that I don’t have a chair anymore, I’ll create a pile straight on the floor. To be fair, I don’t have a wardrobe in my room so after a long day, it can be a little inconvenient but no excuses, I’m working on it!

- What has been your proudest moment so far?
The things I’m most proud of relate to my health condition, which has been a large obstacle in my life and continues to be. Despite the hardships it has caused, I’m continuing to strive to achieve everything I have always dreamed of. I know that sounds very vague, but for example, my attendance at school was poor because I would often be bedridden but I did not let that stop me from reaching for A’s and A*’s and graduating university in a subject I love.

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love reading crime/thriller fiction, finding new places to explore, and getting creative with writing and crafts.

- What are your future aspirations in life?
I still dont know what Id like to do in terms of career, but what I do know is that I hope to be healthy, financially stable, with a loving family (and a cat or two), to be able to give back something good to the world, and make my mother happy.

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
The positive and supportive people in my life, a babys laugh, animals.

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
Oh gosh. I was in year 7, first time wearing a training bra. It was dance class, and we were all in little groups rehearsing our pieces before having to perform in front of everyone. During rehearsal, whilst I was really feeling myself (think Hanna from Pretty Little Liars), my friend was calling my name until I stopped - with there being huge mirrors in the room, all I remember is seeing that my training bra has popped off and was now resting on my neck! I’m not sure if anybody else saw what happened, but that was my most embarrassing moment.

A very big thank you goes out to Maira for getting involved with today's BLOGGER POWR! Make sure you all go and give her a little follow on her Twitter to stay up to date with all her latest posts!

Until next time,

BLOGGER POWR : Aimee

Tuesday, 17 October 2017

We're back with another BLOGGER POWR post! Today we are joined by the lovely Aimee over at https://thehappybootcamp.wordpress.com, to discuss all things blogging! Hope you enjoy reading the post!

Blogging and me!

- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
Hi there! I’m Aimee from The Happiness Bootcamp (www.thehappybootcamp.wordpress.com), a lifestyle, travel and mental health blogger. I run a social enterprise project alongside my blog, bringing mental health talks and events to different places using fitness!

- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
Probably my mental health story, I feel like it really reflects my life and it took a really long time to write. By sharing my own story I hope it can help someone else feel safe.

- How long have you been blogging?
Ive been blogging for around 6 months, I wanted a way of connecting with others with the same passions as me. Blogging seemed like the best way to do so!

- What's your favourite part of blogging?
I love being able to share my thoughts and advice with others and see it help them in some way! Just knowing a post I write can help someone else just makes me so HAPPY!

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I take photos of EVERYTHING. I then sit down and think “okay what would I like to read?” rather than what would impress others. Everything I write is for me, my blog is an extension of who I am so my writing will always be just that. I kinda just write, read over it and add photos!

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
Hunny just be YOU. Don’t get into blogging for the wrong reasons, many write for free things or to be noticed. This isn’t the case, large bloggers have put SO much work and time in, it doesn’t happen over night! Start blogging as a way of expressing yourself, just write what you love and others will join you!

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I LOVE reviewing things! There’s something so fun about testing a product or a new place and then writing how it was! Plus the photos are so much fun to take!

About me:
- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Determined, bubbly and loving!

- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
Ooh this is a fun one!
1. My T2 sleep tight herbal tea, I have this every night without fail to help me feel calm and sleep!
2. My body shop sea salt scrub, it feels like using something from an expensive spa in the comfort of my own home!
3. Hot chocolate and Netflix series! There’s nothing better than getting some comfy pjs on, a warm drink and a good Netflix series on!

- Do you have any bad habits?
I spend too much time on my phone! I can sometimes forget to live away from a screen, but I’m sure that’s a common blogger problem!

- What has been your proudest moment so far?
Easily when I won the student enterprise award for The Happiness Bootcamp! I never thought I’d ever win anything for my little social enterprise, so to win that was absolutely amazing!

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love going to the gym and walking across the countryside, keeping fit and exercising really helps clear my mind! (Plus the photo opportunities)

- What are your future aspirations in life?
I hope to really build The Happiness Bootcamp and hopefully one day open it as a little building, so I can use my psychology degree (when I get it) to help as many as I can! I also hope to keep blogging!

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
1. My boyfriend dancing!
2. Michael McIntyre!!
3. Chocolate, to be fair food in general!

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
Oh god, okay so when I was younger I went to Alton towers and had to queue for 4 hours for this one ride. I ended the toilet so bad and held it for the whole time but when I got on the ride, it set off and lets just say it all got a bit too much for my bladder…

Thanks Aimee for getting involved in this weeks BLOGGER POWR! We really enjoyed reading your answers and hope you enjoyed answering them too! Make sure you go and give Aimee a follow over on Twitter to stay up to date with all of her latest posts!

Until next time,

BLOGGER POWR : Siobhan

Sunday, 15 October 2017

It's a Sunday which means three things! - Relaxing, GRLPOWR CHAT and BLOGGER POWR! Today we are sharing the interview with the lovely Siobhan at https://siobhanscarlettwriter.com.

Blogging and me!

- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
My thoughts probably in a very disorganised way! It's mainly about health and chronic illness.

- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
'My Hypermobility Toolkit' I got quite a lot of good feedback on that one, and it was lovely to think it may have helped someone

- How long have you been blogging?
I'm really new to blogging, so it's only been about 7/8 months.

- What's your favourite part of blogging?
Getting to chat to other people who have had similar experiences to me.

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I'm still working out my method and I seem to be more focused on writing drafts first. I want to put more effort into the photo side of it.

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
I think as long as you are genuine and write about things you are really interested in, in time success will follow. You can't force it.

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I like creating recipes, so they're always fun to experiment with and I enjoy taking the photos for them.

About me:

- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
over thinker, loyal, silly.

- What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
I really enjoy meditating to relax and refocus.

- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
can't live without exercise, music and my friends.

- Do you have any bad habits?
I bite my nails and have done for years, I just can't stop!

- What has been your proudest moment so far?
I was proud to graduate university, as I had a lot of health problems so didn't think I'd be able to finish my degree.

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to read, watch trashy tv, paint, listen to music,  play guitar and exercise

- What are your future aspirations in life?
I really want to get very fit. I have a lot of health obstacles which get in the way of that, so I feel extra motivated to fight against them. I would like to work in a creative job, or a job which helps other people.

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
I really enjoy Catfish, it does always make me smile. Memories and reading over diaries makes me smile. My boyfriend always makes me smile...even when I don't want to.

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
When I was 17 I wanted to apply for an ID which would say I was over 18. I tried to change a photo copy of my birthday certificate to say 1988 instead of 1990. The thing is, I stupidly changed it to 1880. When I handed it in, it was pretty obvious what I was trying to do.

We want to thank Siobhan for getting involved with today's BLOGGER POWR post! Make sure you give her a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with her latest posts!

Until next time,

    BLOGGER POWR : Rosie

    Thursday, 12 October 2017

Happy Thursday! One day closer to the weekend and we couldn't be happier! Today we are joined by the lovely Rosie at http://www.rosie-eva.com. Hope you enjoy the interview!

    Blogging and me!

    - How would you describe your blog in a few words?
I'd describe my blog as honest, positive, and a place to find affordable fashion.

    - Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
I've recently switched up my blog style, so my favourite post to date is 'Why It's Okay To Change'. I think many people could relate to it in one form or another. Plus, the photography in that post is some of the best so far!

    - How long have you been blogging?
I started my blog in April 2016, so almost a year and a half. It's gone so quickly!

    - What's your favourite part of blogging?
I love being in complete creative control of my own online space, where I can be myself. I also love taking my outfit photos, as it's always so much fun.

    - What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I usually take the photos before I write the post, as I find that a lot of my inspiration for writing comes from being able to actually see the photos that have been taken. Although, if I have a deadline for a post, I will sometimes start writing before I take the photos, and adjust it where necessary after looking back at the photos.

    - What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
My best advice would be to find your passion/niche. Blogging should be fun, and a place to express yourself in any way you choose, so it's important that you're passionate about your content. If you stay original, you will stand out, because there is only one of you, and that in itself will make you stand out from the crowd.

    - What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I am a fashion blogger, so outfit posts with meaningful topics are my current favourite posts to create. I would love to create more travel posts, as and when I travel, as I love reading other travel blogs, and I think I'd find a lot of inspiration with this.

    About me:
    - How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
    Loyal, friendly, perfectionist!

    - What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
Sleep! It's the only time my mind is fully switched off.

    - Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
My family, my phone, and pizza. I live for pizza.

    - Do you have any bad habits?
I am such a bad procrastinator, and I hate it!

    - What has been your proudest moment so far?
Anyone who knows me will know that I'm a massive fan of Chelsea Football Club. I worked for the Club when I was 18, for just over a year. It was like a dream come true!

    - What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love working on my blog and my YouTube channel. If I'm not taking photos/writing posts, or filming videos, I'm coming up with new content ideas. I probably also spend way too much time on my phone..

    - What are your future aspirations in life?
My main future goal is to be happy. I would also love for my blog and YouTube channel to be my career one day - that's what I'm working towards.

    - Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
My family/cats, food, and Only Fools and Horses - my favourite TV show EVER!

    - Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
I was once an extra in Made in Chelsea, and each extra was put into pairs, except for me, as there was an odd number. I was told by the director to have a pretend conversation with 'someone', which was actually the side of a camera - this obviously wasn't seen. Every now and then, I could feel the cast glancing over at me miming to myself.. it was quite embarrassing, but the director told me after that I did a really good job, so I'm happy with that!

Thanks so much Rosie for getting involved with todays BLOGGER POWR post! We loved reading your answers! Make sure you all give her a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with her latest posts!

    Until next time,

    BLOGGER POWR : Ellie

    Thursday, 5 October 2017

It's Thursday, which only means one thing! We are back with the next edition of BLOGGER POWR! Today we are joined by the lovely Ellie from http://www.ellieskitchenuk.com. Ellie recently hosted one of our GRLPOWR chats, so I hope you enjoy getting to know her a little bit more through this interview!

    Blogging and me!

    - How would you describe your blog in a few words?
It’s an insight to my love for food and drink

    - Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
I have a lot of post I’m particularly proud of, sometimes because of the images or just because I feel it is very me but one of my favourites is http://www.ellieskitchenuk.com/?p=1038  Because it is an account of a VERY good trip.

    - How long have you been blogging?
I stared Ellie’s Kitchen in March 2016 – so just 18 months ago!

    - What's your favourite part of blogging?
Being able to write about stuff I want, when I want. But I’m also lucky enough to try out new food and drink and also go to some pretty fun events too! Blogging has opened a lot of doors for me, which was unexpected but very very cool!

    - What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
It varies depending on the type of post. For a recipe feature I will make the recipe a few times before I can post about it. I will also always photograph the result before writing it up.
For guides and rundowns generally I will write the post first and then take pictures once I know what will fit where.

    - What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
Honestly, your blog shouldn’t be primarily about standing out from the crowd. It should be how YOU want it to be! If you inject enough of yourself into it I should naturally be different to other blogs… simply because it’s a bit of you!

    - What are your favourite blog posts to create?
Recipes! I love creating an original recipe, trying it out, taking pictures and eating it after! It’s definitely the recipes that started Ellie’s Kitchen off!

    About me:
    - How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
    Unique, workaholic, outgoing.

    - What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
Blogging of course! But if I’m in a totally lazy mood I love a bubble bath or watching sci-fi movies.

    - Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
My Lucas' Papaw Ointment, those close to me and my Kitchen!

    - Do you have any bad habits?
I’m sure if you ask my ex boyfriends they would say yes… but I would say my worst habit is working myself too hard sometimes.

    - What has been your proudest moment so far?
That’s the hardest question yet! I think I’m proud of myself most for deciding uni wasn’t for me and dropping out after a few months. It was a hard decision that felt very against the grain  but 100% worth it!

    - What do you like to do in your spare time?
Write and cook! My blog is technically a hobby asI work full time so I tend to write and bake in the evenings! If I’m not doing either of those I’m usually eating out!

    - What are your future aspirations in life?
I work for my family business so obviously that is in my future plans. But I would absolutely love to have a little, rustic feeling café some day. With a deli shop too!

    - Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
My Pug, Doug, When a brand approaches ME to work with them and a good gin and tonic!

    - Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
Now that would be telling you too much!

A very big thank you goes out to Ellie for being involved with todays BLOGGER POWR interview! Hope you enjoyed reading! Make sure you give Ellie a follow over on Twitter to keep up to date with all of her latest posts!

    Until next time,
