GRLPOWR - Big Changes Are Happening!

Sunday, 29 October 2017
Hey everyone!

Although it probably doesn't seem it, what with there being frequent blogpost uploads on this blog over the last couple of months, but it's actually been a little while since we last sat down and wrote a post for the GRLPOWR blog. Like most things, life had simply got in the way.

GRLPOWR has been running now for over a year, and the support and love we have received has been incredible. You may have seen on our Twitter account last week that we have been going through some admin changes. As sad as these changes are for us we understand that they had to be done and still love and respect each of the girls who have sadly left us.

But the show must go on, and the three of us left, as well as someone new who you will all get to meet soon are determined to continue GRLPOWR's success and share the love and support within the blogging community.

This does mean that a few changes are going to be made which will be different to the GRLPOWR community you know now...

Twitter RT's
Retweeting all of your lovely blogposts has been one of the best things to have come out of GRLPOWR. We will admit and apologise at how sparse it had become over the last few months. When discussing the changes with the account retweets were one of the things we knew we wanted to keep. To make it easier for everyone we have decided to set a time of RTs, although we know that we will probably RT outside of these times anyway! These times will be 10AM-11PM UK time. This way you guys know when to @ us in your tweets!

Blogger Chats
We owe a lot of our growth, support and blogging spirit to our blogger chats so don't worry they aren't going anywhere! We were so proud of hosting three chats each week, but finding the time to admin all of these chats amongst the four of us was something that we were finding quite stressful. So we have decided to create a monthly twitter chat chart with all of the hosts for that month. That way you are able to navigate your way to the correct host for that specific day. Our first chart will be for the month of November (See below). We think this will be a much easier way for you guys to be in the know and also take some of the stress off of us too.

Comment Thread Thursday's!
The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed the change of chat days in the above calendar. We would like to introduce to you the new Thursdays. Previously our 8pm chat's weren't as popular as our Sunday and Tuesdays, SO we have decided to replace it with a Thursday comment thread. During the hours of 8-9pm we would love you to join us with sharing your latest posts giving it the exposure all you lovelies deserve!

Instagram
Did you know we have an Instagram account? Well we do! It's one of the accounts that we have truly neglected over the year of GRLPOWR. Trying to keep on top of everything else meant that our Insta was the last on the list, so we're going to be bringing it back to make it more active. We have a lot of plans to make it more interactive and another hub of positivity so stay tuned!

So those are the first changes that will be taking place over the next couple of weeks. We just wanted to take the time to thank you all for your support during this short in between period. It truly does mean a lot to us and we can't wait to get back into running things properly again!

Until next time,
(Cesca, Eloise, Nusha and Tjash)

BLOGGER POWR: Savannah

Tuesday, 24 October 2017

Today marks the final post in this BLOGGER POWR series. We really hope you have enjoyed reading all of the different posts from all the wonderful bloggers who are a part of the GRLPOWR community!

In today's final post we are speaking with the lovely Savannah from http://www.justsavxnnah.com! Hope you enjoy!

Blogging and me!

- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
Fun, encouraging, inspiring.

- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
It is quite difficult to choose one favourite post, but if I really have to I think it would be 'Thoughts by the beach' (http://www.justsavxnnah.com/2017/08/thoughts-by-beach.html) it is a very personal journal-like post. At first I was hesitant to upload this, but I am so glad I did. I received some really kind comments and I hope to be able to keep building up this positivity and to eventually help others reach this happy stage :)

- How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for 7 years.

- What's your favourite part of blogging?
The adventure! Everything is an adventure, creating new content, photography, writing, editing, everything! When I first started blogging I didn't know anything about cameras or writing or code. Today, although I know much more than then when I first started, I still have so much to learn.

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
Normally I would have a post idea, then take the photos, edit and write the post. However, when I suddenly get inspired I sometimes write the post first and see what images I can use with it.

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
Just be yourself, it might sound cliche, but people will like (and remember) you for being you. If you try to copy others, either people will eventually pick up on that or you get fed up with doing something that isn't true to yourself. Embrace your individuality! How boring would life be if we were all the same?

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I really like putting together outfits, so I would say any outfit related post is my favourite!

About me:

- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Grandma gone wild! I might have to explain a little, 80% of the time I'm such a grandma(binge watching/sleeping early) but sometimes I go a little crazy and end up dancing until 6am!

- What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
I love watching Netflix.

- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
Sadly my phone, my glasses (can't see a thing without!) and music!

- Do you have any bad habits?
I am such a procrastinator!

- What has been your proudest moment so far?
I'm not really a proud person, but I am proud of the fact that I am living and working in London. It is hard, as I am away from my family and friends but I am managing and slowly building a life in a new city.

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like doing many different things, but most shopping, eating out, watching Netflix, going to concerts etc.

- What are your future aspirations in life?
I'd like to become a full-time blogger eventually, if that doesn't work out I've always wanted to work for a magazine!

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
Chocolate, my mother and shopping!

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
I've got quite some, but the one that comes to mind is when I fell on a main street in Lisbon. There was a large whole in the pavement that I didn't see and I ended up on the ground! Luckily I only got a very small scratch...

Thanks so much to Savannah for being involved in today's BLOGGER POWR interview! Make sure you give her a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with her latest posts!

We just want to say another big thanks to everyone who has been involved in this series of BLOGGER POWR! We have really enjoyed sharing all of the bloggers and hope you have found some fun in it as well!

Until next time,

BLOGGER POWR: Caitlin

Sunday, 22 October 2017

Good day! Today, we are bringing you the penultimate edition of our BLOGGER POWR series! Boy is it gone by quickly! Today we are speaking with the lovely Caitlin at skipbreakfastattiffianys.co.uk. Hope you enjoy!

Blogging and me:
- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
Hey! I’m Caitlin. My blog is a Fashion, Lifestyle and Beauty blog.
- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?

Hmm, this is a tough one because I don’t have many blogposts as of yet due to me being new. I would say its my
OOTD| When In Doubt Wear Red post because this outfit is fire! I love it and other people seem to really like it too.
- How long have you been blogging?

I have only been blogging now for almost 2 months!

- What's your favourite part of blogging?

Knowing people are reading my posts and are getting involved by either sharing their stories or ideas.

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)

I tend to do a monthly plan of what posts I am going to be writing. I will then write them up when I have time and then I will take pictures just before I am ready to post them and edit.

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?

Be yourself! Don’t pretend to be like another blogger you have seen. You will stand out by being you, everyone is different and no one is the same therefore you are unique.

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?

It has to be my Fashion posts. The looks you get when you are out taking pictures in a busy place is just so funny. You also get to style the outfits (My fav part).

About me:

- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Bubbly, bossy and funny.

- What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
Have a glass of prosecco (You have to add raspberries though), put my candles on, fairy lights on and just listen to some chill music.
- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!

3 things I can’t live without (This is sooo difficult)
  • Chocolate
  • Prosecco
  • Cheese
I know its all food/drink but food is love, food is life.
- Do you have any bad habits?
I have a lot, I am annoying I ain’t going to lie haha.
  • I tend to scrape my fork against my teeth when eating (It drives my boyfriend mad)
  • I give my opinion probably when I shouldn’t.
  • I pinch chocolate when it’s around my house ( I can’t hep it, I’m addicted)

- What has been your proudest moment so far?

Passing my driving test first time and achieving my B in Photography! (A-levels).

- What do you like to do in your spare time?

Blog, eat and sleep

- What are your future aspirations in life?

I would like to move to Manchester and go into the Fashion industry.

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
My boyfriend, Elliott.
My little Niece
My bed

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
I HAVE LOADS! I tend to embarrass myself on a daily basis.
One memory that does stick is when I was once in a very busy shopping centre. I had a Mc Donald’s tray in my hands and went to get some sauce and I slipped and fell with the tray. My drink and food was all over the floor, I just sat there and everyone was staring and my friend had fallen into the next restaurant in absolute hysterics. That’s not even my worst!

A very big thank you to the lovely Caitlin for being involved with today's BLOGGER POWR interview! Make sure you give her a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with all her latest posts!

Until next time,

BLOGGER POWR : Maria

Thursday, 19 October 2017

Hope everyone has had a lovely week so far! Today we are bringing you another BLOGGER POWR post featuring the lovely Maira at http://lovefrommaira.co.uk. Hope you enjoy reading her answers to the questions!

Blogging and me!

- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
LoveFromMaira is a little slice of my life, filled with all things beauty, a little bit of lifestyle and things that I’m enthusiastic about such as health and well-being.

- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
My ‘Bedside Beauty Essentials’ post is a very popular one, however my personal favourite is my ‘Pathways to Happiness’ one from last year.

- How long have you been blogging?
I created my blog in February of 2016, so over a year now.

- What's your favourite part of blogging?
This is a hard question to answer because there’s so many things I enjoy about blogging. I’m truly thankful for the wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting and I also love having a corner of the internet all to myself, where I can be myself and that there are other people who appreciate my content.

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I’m more of a writer than a photographer, so I tend to write up several blog posts when I’m bursting with inspiration and take my photos accordingly - although, I will admit that I can get a little lazy with taking photos because I’m not the best at it! It’s something I really want to improve on, and it will take some time. When I first started blogging, I had a routine of uploading two to three times a week. However, this quickly became an impossible task because firstly, life and secondly, majority of my blog posts are beauty product reviews and testing out products requires a lot of time before producing a final verdict.

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
It can be difficult finding your place in the blogging community, as although a generally very welcoming and friendly place, it can be easy to get lost in the sea of marble and rose-gold. I would say, as cliche as it may be, be yourself because that’s what makes you unique. In addition to that, if you really enjoy what you do, that tends to shine through your writing and from what I’ve seen, that’s what makes a blog successful…and I measure success by the engagement and positive feedback I receive, as opposed to counting numbers.

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I do enjoy writing beauty product reviews, but they can become monotonous very quickly, therefore I enjoy writing other kinds of posts to break it up a little. For example, the ‘Reverse Bucket List’ - any kind of ‘tag’ post or something of a more personal nature.

About me:
- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Resilient, Ridiculous, but Loving :)

- What is your favourite thing to do to relax?
Nothing beats fresh bed sheets, a bubble bath, face mask, candles and a good book!

- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
My mum, cold water, and a good skincare routine.

- Do you have any bad habits?
Oh yes, Im one of those people who used to have a chair in the room which would quickly pile up with clothes. Now that I don’t have a chair anymore, I’ll create a pile straight on the floor. To be fair, I don’t have a wardrobe in my room so after a long day, it can be a little inconvenient but no excuses, I’m working on it!

- What has been your proudest moment so far?
The things I’m most proud of relate to my health condition, which has been a large obstacle in my life and continues to be. Despite the hardships it has caused, I’m continuing to strive to achieve everything I have always dreamed of. I know that sounds very vague, but for example, my attendance at school was poor because I would often be bedridden but I did not let that stop me from reaching for A’s and A*’s and graduating university in a subject I love.

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love reading crime/thriller fiction, finding new places to explore, and getting creative with writing and crafts.

- What are your future aspirations in life?
I still dont know what Id like to do in terms of career, but what I do know is that I hope to be healthy, financially stable, with a loving family (and a cat or two), to be able to give back something good to the world, and make my mother happy.

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
The positive and supportive people in my life, a babys laugh, animals.

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
Oh gosh. I was in year 7, first time wearing a training bra. It was dance class, and we were all in little groups rehearsing our pieces before having to perform in front of everyone. During rehearsal, whilst I was really feeling myself (think Hanna from Pretty Little Liars), my friend was calling my name until I stopped - with there being huge mirrors in the room, all I remember is seeing that my training bra has popped off and was now resting on my neck! I’m not sure if anybody else saw what happened, but that was my most embarrassing moment.

A very big thank you goes out to Maira for getting involved with today's BLOGGER POWR! Make sure you all go and give her a little follow on her Twitter to stay up to date with all her latest posts!

Until next time,

BLOGGER POWR : Aimee

Tuesday, 17 October 2017

We're back with another BLOGGER POWR post! Today we are joined by the lovely Aimee over at https://thehappybootcamp.wordpress.com, to discuss all things blogging! Hope you enjoy reading the post!

Blogging and me!

- How would you describe your blog in a few words?
Hi there! I’m Aimee from The Happiness Bootcamp (www.thehappybootcamp.wordpress.com), a lifestyle, travel and mental health blogger. I run a social enterprise project alongside my blog, bringing mental health talks and events to different places using fitness!

- Which blogpost, that you have uploaded, is your favourite?
Probably my mental health story, I feel like it really reflects my life and it took a really long time to write. By sharing my own story I hope it can help someone else feel safe.

- How long have you been blogging?
Ive been blogging for around 6 months, I wanted a way of connecting with others with the same passions as me. Blogging seemed like the best way to do so!

- What's your favourite part of blogging?
I love being able to share my thoughts and advice with others and see it help them in some way! Just knowing a post I write can help someone else just makes me so HAPPY!

- What is your blogging method? (E.g. do you take photos before writing up your post?)
I take photos of EVERYTHING. I then sit down and think “okay what would I like to read?” rather than what would impress others. Everything I write is for me, my blog is an extension of who I am so my writing will always be just that. I kinda just write, read over it and add photos!

- What advice do you give to new bloggers to stand out in the crowd?
Hunny just be YOU. Don’t get into blogging for the wrong reasons, many write for free things or to be noticed. This isn’t the case, large bloggers have put SO much work and time in, it doesn’t happen over night! Start blogging as a way of expressing yourself, just write what you love and others will join you!

- What are your favourite blog posts to create?
I LOVE reviewing things! There’s something so fun about testing a product or a new place and then writing how it was! Plus the photos are so much fun to take!

About me:
- How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Determined, bubbly and loving!

- Name 3 things you couldn't live without!
Ooh this is a fun one!
1. My T2 sleep tight herbal tea, I have this every night without fail to help me feel calm and sleep!
2. My body shop sea salt scrub, it feels like using something from an expensive spa in the comfort of my own home!
3. Hot chocolate and Netflix series! There’s nothing better than getting some comfy pjs on, a warm drink and a good Netflix series on!

- Do you have any bad habits?
I spend too much time on my phone! I can sometimes forget to live away from a screen, but I’m sure that’s a common blogger problem!

- What has been your proudest moment so far?
Easily when I won the student enterprise award for The Happiness Bootcamp! I never thought I’d ever win anything for my little social enterprise, so to win that was absolutely amazing!

- What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love going to the gym and walking across the countryside, keeping fit and exercising really helps clear my mind! (Plus the photo opportunities)

- What are your future aspirations in life?
I hope to really build The Happiness Bootcamp and hopefully one day open it as a little building, so I can use my psychology degree (when I get it) to help as many as I can! I also hope to keep blogging!

- Name three things that never fail to make you smile.
1. My boyfriend dancing!
2. Michael McIntyre!!
3. Chocolate, to be fair food in general!

- Confession time! What is your most embarrassing moment?
Oh god, okay so when I was younger I went to Alton towers and had to queue for 4 hours for this one ride. I ended the toilet so bad and held it for the whole time but when I got on the ride, it set off and lets just say it all got a bit too much for my bladder…

Thanks Aimee for getting involved in this weeks BLOGGER POWR! We really enjoyed reading your answers and hope you enjoyed answering them too! Make sure you go and give Aimee a follow over on Twitter to stay up to date with all of her latest posts!
